We visited the Michael R Frazer Sunrise Garden in June with its clever sculptures, flowers and wildlife. The garden was apparently renamed in 2022 after the former mayor. It is rare to find such a pretty small garden. There are steep little bridges. The boardwalk next to it is lovely too. I recommend visiting in the off season or maybe early in the day due to parking issues. The beach is quite expensive to park your beach towel on.

A Day In Merida
With only a half day after a late night wedding, we visited a fascinating museum about the history and culture of the Mayans and a dinosaur exhibit for the afternoon before a nice dinner.
We visited the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya

Merida Colonial downtown vendors. Merida is known for embroidery and guayaberas, shirts usually made with 4 pockets.
Hanging decorations
Whimsical folk art was on the edges of the outdoor restaurant. I loved the pink boots!
This artwork had a huge sparkly tongue. Is it a mermaid or a dragon or a dog? Really fanciful!
Nearby Pancho's restaurant looked interesting.

Blue Ridge Parkway Oct 29, 2017 Lynchburg, VA
We made a detour into Lynchburg to visit a relative, and had a good breakfast at Market at Main Restaurant downtown. The weather was rainy and gray in the morning and late in the day, as we headed to Big Meadows Lodge in Shenandoah National Park.
Sweet Potato Waffles for breakfast, a new treat.
Just sweet!
A piano on the streets of Lynchburg in the art district that invited visitors to have their own outdoor concert.
It looks like a school bus, but it is art!
A wall mural nearby.
A fountain on the edge of town.
" Country roads, take me home..."
The James River Bridge. It was quite windy up there.
And you guessed it, the James River
A lock demo on the other side of the river.
The return walk across the bridge
A cutie pie we met in the James River visitor center parking lot.
Aren't they cute?
