Solar Eclipse of April 8th, 2024 from Southern Maryland

At the last minute, we found our solar filter which fit perfectly on my Tamron 150-600mm lens, and shot it with my Nikon D850 until 3:45 PM ...

Playing with Tulip Still Lifes

I bought a few tulips to photograph since they don’t grow well in our garden.  They are white with light pink edges that was subtle.   I played with window light, curtains and a pink wall.  These are all cell phone photos, edited with Snapseed on my phone.

Photographed in window light with lace in front of the window.

When the petals fell off, I liked the view of the stamens inside.

Sarita Needed Grooming

We were fairly busy lately and weren't paying enough attention.  Sarita, our toy poodle needed grooming, NOW.  She doesn't photograph as well these days, with her sightless eyes and very anxious demeanor, but she means a lot to us, so I photograph her anyway, mostly just cuddled up next to Jim.  I put her in window light, because strange noises from a flash are very scary these days.  She tends to put her head down a lot, so it is sort of challenging.  Here are a few before, middle, and after pictures.

The Osprey are Coming March 13, 2022

Here's an osprey photo from March 2021 that I like to call Push Me Pull You.

Today the local osprey nest had an eagle in the morning with some food.  An osprey didn't like it, probably complained, and the eagle left in a hurry.  The osprey was keeping an eye on the nest for a while, flying around overhead, but not landing on the nest.

I'm never sure if the osprey visitors have picked out their nest, or are just trying out a few nests in the area, before the mate shows up.

Bald Eagle Having a Meal

The fish was too small to share with the partner bird!  The left eagle in this photo had just flown down with a fish, nearly hitting it’s partner.  The right eagle actually ducked to avoid getting hit with his/her partner’s wings.  I have some blurry photos of it taken at high speed, but not high enough.  They add to the story a little anyway.  I put them at the end since they aren’t the best photos.

Eagles can be bad flyers sometimes.

Foggy Day Pier

Just a photo from a foggy day in February from a local pier.  I liked it in black and white and I liked the hazy reflection on the water.  It is kind of peaceful.  This one is from my little Nikon Coolpix.  It fits with my business name, Calm Reflections photography.
