Flowers at the U.S. National Arboretum in April Part 2

We enjoyed wandering around the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum with bonsai from China, Japan and North America.  There was a lovely magenta bouganvillea bonsai I loved, the beautiful round arch of the Chinese pavillion surrounded by wisteria and an orchid bonsai.  I still remember a collection of azalea bonsai from many years ago that was probably on loan.

Flowers at the U.S. National Arboretum in April Part 1

I wanted to see the tulips at Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore, but the trip was just a little too far away and I couldn't find any nearby restrooms, so we settled on the U.S. National Arboretum instead, since it was a shorter trip.

Does anyone know of any tulip fields in St. Mary's County?  They had a few tulips at the Arboretum,  but not 6 acres worth and most of them were behind a fence.

They did have quite a variety of beautiful flowers blooming, so I was satisfied.  In the past, we usually visited in May to see the azaleas.  Most of the azaleas weren't blooming yet and that was fine.

I will probably turn this into several posts, because there were too many pretty ones.

We smelled and saw some lovely wisteria too.  The carpenter bees were certainly enjoying it.

Pink Flowers in St Marys County 2025

I wandered around St Mary's County a little to find some pretty Spring flowers.  Most of them were pink.  Can I help it if it's my favorite color!

Geese in Fog

This was such a simple picture taken when fog enveloped the creek except for a little patch right by the osprey nest, but I wanted to make the pale water look a little bluer, more like the real view.  Photoshop refused to select the right hand goose every time.  It should be easy, but it wasn't.

Early Spring in St. Mary's County March 23, 2025

We took a pleasant ride around the south county to look for flowers.  There were some pretty purple farm fields I haven't photographed before.  We stopped at both St. Mary's Chapel and St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Eagle photos from January

I finally downloaded photos from my new Nikon camera.  I am learning how to use all the new features and testing it.  The eagle was visiting the osprey nest.  I have way  more to learn.

Twenty Three Swans a Visiting

On Saturday, I saw 23 swans in a group out on the creek.  I have never seen that many visiting before here.  It is usually 5 or 6 every few years.  They were pretty far away, so the pictures were not easy even with about the equivalent of an 800 mm lens.  I have a 600 mm lens and added a 1.4 extender.  So these are more of a record shot to record the event, since they were also heavily cropped.

St Andrews Estate Park

I needed a lunch break and found this small little park for children that I didn’t know existed.  I tried to take some slightly creative photos.
