St Cecilia Catholic Church Gardens

I drove into the parking lot of St. Cecilia Catholic Church looking for a few trees with Autumn leaves still attached in late November.  I was surprised to find quite a few flowers blooming and a beautiful red maple.

Autumn in St. Mary's County 2

I wandered around the south part of the county a few days.  Here are the best images.

Thomas Point Park in Annapolis

We visited Thomas Point Park in Annapolis after a doctor visit, since I had never seen the Thomas Point Lighthouse.  I knew it would be a good distance away, so I brought my very longest lens, up to 600mm and still had to crop the photo alot.  The fall foliage was looking good and there was a cute dinosaur statue in the woods by the side of the road.  The day was mostly cloudy, so I spent most of the time waiting for the fog to get interesting and the sun to show itself.

The park was named after Philip Thomas, an English merchant who owned the nearby land in the mid 1600s.  It is popular for fishing, biking, walking, birding and picnicing.  The park is so small that you must make an advance reservation with a fee to visit except during the colder months.  There is hardly any parking.

Quiet Waters Park in Autumn 2023

We were in Annapolis for a doctor visit, so we stopped by Quiet Waters Park to see the beautiful trees afterwards.

Gilbert Run Park

I visited Gilbert Run Park briefly to check out the fall colors.  The light was beautiful for a short while toward the end of the day.  The bridge area where birds sometimes hang out had already lost the light.

Autumn in St. Mary's Part 2-2022

Some more Fall photos with pretty reflections near Hollywood.  I was pleased to see a red canoe paddle by when the light was interesting in the afternoon.

Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis

We drove to Annapolis for a doctor appointment and spent some time at Quiet Waters Park afterwards.  The dog park looks like it has been fixed up quite a bit with an overlook and two gazebos on the bluff.

Autumn in St. Mary's Part 1-2022

With this crazy warm weather, I was able to take some fun local Fall photos.  I was trying to find places near water for Autumn reflections, country back roads (challenging since most places are paved now) and pretty leaves.
