North Beach Boardwalk June 13, 2022

We chose to go to North Beach boardwalk last week after getting tick bites in the last two weeks.  The temperature was warming up, and I tried to pick a cooler day in the week.  The trip turned into a disaster for our little poodle who fell off a bench and had a seizure, but the boardwalk itself was enjoyable.  The Sunrise Garden was very pretty this time of year, with water lilies, koi, and hibiscus.  The beach was very expensive, requiring a beach tag, but the boardwalk was free and leashed dogs were allowed.  This time of year we were able to park in a handicapped spot during the week, but I expect that will be more difficult during the summer months.

Here's photo from my exhibit to entice you to visit the collection.  A waterlily in this pale pink shade is easy to over expose.  This photo was 2nd place themed digital at the end of the year competition in the St. Mary's County Camera Club, a competion including only the winning photos from the monthly competitions.  (I also won first for the advanced digital category for my baby gorilla photo.)

On the Water

I haven't been to any interesting events lately, except for the Ridge Carnival.  I am posting those pictures on Calm Reflections Photography Facebook.

So, here are are a few winning photos from our recent St. Mary's Camera Club August themed competition "On the Water"

Expect the Unexpected

On Oct 14th,I was wandering around St. Mary's College of Maryland looking for pictures of leaves for a St. Mary's County Camera Club competition.   Often I don't find the photo I plan to get, but find something else even better.  I was amazed to see waterlilies in October in the small pond. 

The lily pads were interesting too.  If you are familiar with old video games, the leaves reminded me of an old game.  Feel free to guess. 

Then, I saw an unexpected treat near sunset.    With photography you always need to be prepared for the unexpected.  It is worth having several lenses with you just in case.  That's life I guess! 

By the way,  I didn't find any good leaf pictures that day, but  I hope to get some soon.
