Shenandoah Animals 2019

Red-tailed hawk at Big Meadows, a bird with a bad wing.  We saw the hawk at a raptor lecture.

Kookaberra and other animals at the Luray Zoo.

Peregrine falcon (through a cage)

Goat that wants attention.

It always tastes better on the other side.

A goat with a beard is not necessarily male.

I loved this photo.  The Blues Brothers and Snowball, the peacocks at Brookside Cabins.  They had just lost most of their fan feathers, so closeups were better and I had to put my lens right up to the cage to make the wires disappear.

September Fairs 2019

I love the colors of Ferris Wheels when you use a long exposure.  Photographed at the St. Mary's County Fair.

This goat was dressed as Thing Two from Dr. Seuss's book, "The Cat in the Hat" in the pet costume contest.

A rabbit enjoys the backside of a sibling to take a nap.

My friend Nell's flower entry was lovely.

More colors I loved.

These cows were certainly friendly.

The Ridge Festival was late this year.  Here is a ride I never had the courage to try.

And the winning number is...

An amusement worker looked friendly.

St Marys County Fair Photos

I was delayed in posting recently by major PC issues, so finally now I could look at my Fair photos and post my favorites.  The computer is still a work in progress...

I visited the Fair on September 21st to be a photographic judge, September 23rd and 24th for fun and to help the St Marys County Camera Club return entries.

Milking a goat.  I liked the dramatic light.

I am always searching for something new to photograph, so we watched the canine pulls.  I have never heard of dog pulls, but I was concerned that it might be harmful to the pet.  The dogs are asked to pull weights without bribery by food or force.  The dog owner asks the dog to pull, but cannot touch their pet.  The background was poor, so I concentrated on the emotions.

Brom, a 3 legged dog and champion canine puller, was rescued and loves his owner.

The show is a favorite attraction.

     Water fun

I was surprised to see a blue eyed Clydesdale horse.

Wax hands for sale.  An interesting process.
