River Concert 4: Sultry Summer Night Jazz Tango and More, July 16, 2021

The last 2021 summer concert at St. Mary's College of Maryland featured Sara Jones, jazz vocalist, José Cueto, violinist and Bryan Bourne, trombone player with the Chesapeake Orchestra. It was indeed a sultry and very hot summer night! These are rehearsal photos. I really enjoyed hearing "Sway" and "One Note Samba". River Concert Series Super Celebration with Fireworks July 5, 2019

Rousing music from the Chesapeake Orchestra and Fireworks always bring out a crowd.

We enjoyed lots of Science Fiction and Fantasy music, along with a few patriotic Marches at St. Mary's College or Maryland. I have never heard music from "Wonder Woman" or a medley from Star Trek before. Wonderful! And of course, the Chesapeake Orchestra played a portion of the traditional "1812 Overture" with fireworks. The crowd reached into the back patio by Daugherty-Palmer Commons, so it was quite a large event, given the weather was cooperative. You sure know how to put on a grand show for the River Concert Series!

River Concert Series with Ballet Caliente July 20, 2018

The weather was perfect on Friday night, July 20th for Dancing Under the Stars. The performance featured a small ensemble from the Chesapeake Orchestra (led by Jeffrey Silberschlag), and the young dancers from Ballet Caliente lead by artistic director, Sheryl-Marie Dunaway. The performance was held at 7 PM at the Townhouse Green at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The dancers were graceful and lovely, followed by some orchestral selections. It was such a nice evening that the crowd stayed for quite a while following the concert.

Before the concert began, we attended an Arts Alliance party, a volunteer group which helps support the River Concert Series and many other cultural and art activities.
