I played with some pretty flowers I got from the grocery store called Pretty in Pink. I used a technique called focus stacking to make it sharper.

Camera Club competition winners for March
Theme Still Life First place March
I spent some time working on still life photos for competition this month. Since I could do them inside, they were easier then going out somewhere. It took me several days to figure out how to get good light in my living room, since the window light wasn’t working and I can’t stand long enough to try a lot of ideas. Walking is less painful than standing at this point. I wanted to use the glass around the hurricane lamp, but I kept getting window reflections or flash bright spots, so I finally took it off. I had to review how to use multiple flash with my new camera, a little complicated. I think it would be fun to take the time to try to get it right with the glass, maybe using a black reflector. The judge suggested moving the candle a little right to see all of it.
Advanced honorable mention March
From my musical rose collection. I photographed a lot of roses to use for birthday photos on Facebook and for cards on zazzle.

Gold Rose with Textures
I photographed this dead rose on February 13th and it still looks good now. Usually roses just wilt and fall over. I liked the textures in this rose, after most people would have tossed it out. The photograph is made of 26 photos using a technique called photo stacking. I combined those photos with various focus points to create sharpness throughout the photo.
If you see my "Friendship Roses" blog post from February 17th, you will see what the live rose looked like.

Friendship roses
Roses can have different meanings. I decided to make a photo collection of roses for friendship and place them on my musical instruments. Pink roses mean appreciation, gratitude or recognition, joy, happiness and grace.
A white rose stands for innocence, purity or charm.
Gold roses say joy, gladness, affection, friendship. I plan to add these roses to my Zazzle collection.

Spring Flowers May 6, 2018
A few photos from a lovely place.
I was trying out my Lens Baby which creates a sharp area and blurs the rest of the photo.

Leonardtown Fun Photo Walk
The St. Mary's County Camera Club got together to photograph Leonardtown recently at 7 pm. The sky was quite gray and the light wasn't too interesting, but it wasn't raining and we had fun. Here are the best shots.
