Yellow Crowned Night Heron Juvenile

I spotted a heron in Southern St. Mary’s County July 25th. I don’t think a yellow crowned night heron is a common bird for this area, but it is in their range. Most photos I saw were from Florida and Texas. We see lots of great blue herons and occasional green herons. Elsewhere I have seen tri-colored herons. I was surprised it wasn’t one of them.

River Concert 4: Sultry Summer Night Jazz Tango and More, July 16, 2021

The last 2021 summer concert at St. Mary's College of Maryland featured Sara Jones, jazz vocalist, José Cueto, violinist and Bryan Bourne, trombone player with the Chesapeake Orchestra. It was indeed a sultry and very hot summer night! These are rehearsal photos. I really enjoyed hearing "Sway" and "One Note Samba". River Concert Series 3: Summer Dance July 9, 2021

The third concert featured Sheryl-Marie Dunaway's Ballet Caliente at 7 pm on the green at St. Mary's College of Maryland. They performed some music of Bizet, Arvo Part and others. Enjoy some rehearsal photos.
