Foggy Day Pier

Just a photo from a foggy day in February from a local pier.  I liked it in black and white and I liked the hazy reflection on the water.  It is kind of peaceful.  This one is from my little Nikon Coolpix.  It fits with my business name, Calm Reflections photography.

Happy President's Day!

I couldn't decide which portrayed President's Day better using my photos, so here are two.  I even tried to put them together, but it needs a little more work.  LOL!

Pelican Double Exposure

I photographed some pelicans late last year in St. Mary's County, and made some double exposures by mistake.  I had been playing with double exposures before I went out to photograph the pelicans.  That should teach me to reset my camera!  A few images were kind of interesting.  I decided to play with the image a little to see if I could line it up a little better.  It is not perfect, but it created an interesting image.  Not too bad, since I haven't done this much.  I am sure there is a more exact way of lining up the images with rulers and such, but it wasn't easy to try to line up the beak and get them made as similar sizes, while still making sure the wings didn't end up outside the frame.  Sometimes the best way to learn is by giving it a try.  Comments are welcome.

Winter Cold 2022

Here are a few photos that could symbolize the word COLD.  During my recent winter walks, I chose to photograph the current weather conditions along the roadside as a way of expressing the current time, Winter.  We haven't had a whole lot of snow, only an inch or two, while many of you have experienced far worse conditions.  Several feet of snow would have expressed COLD as well, but I am very grateful I didn't have to show that to express the Winter.

Bald Eagle Pair in January 2022

I love photographing this bald eagle pair in St. Mary's County, MD.  They are at our nearby osprey nest often in winter to look for meals and eat.  It is such a privilege to be able to see them so close.  This time they were probably warning off other birds that wanted their meal.

If you are interested in eagle photos, I have one of my best eagle 8x10 photos for sale at Zazzle.

Snow Day January 3-6, 2022

We have had a little snow lately, quite a bit less here than most of our neighbors in St. Mary's County.  I photographed it from the windows a little to share a variety of different impressions in the snow.

A pair of blue jays visited while there was a tiny bit of snow around.

Sunset was very windy, so I edited the photo to be blurry on purpose to show the wind.

The pampas grass on the left creates a little depth to the photo

I liked the way the snow frosted the tree trunks.
