The River Concert Series Began June 29, 2018 with Patriotic Music and Jazz

After the rained out concert on June 22nd, the Chesapeake Orchestra began their annual series last Friday at 7 PM at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

It was humid and sunny and the expected crowd showed up to hear the patriotic music composed by Sousa and Tchaikovsky, as well as famous pieces by Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story) and of course, followed by fireworks.

After missing their performance last year, Ballet Caliente (artistic director Sheryl-Marie Dunaway) performed 2 numbers to rousing music in colorful costumes.

What a crowd!

I love bubbles!

The featured soloist was Sara Jones, lovely jazz singer and alumna of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.  Some of her music included Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under my Skin" and the "One Note Samba"

She was accompanied by Michael Miller on bass and electric guitar, along with a pianist

 And Don Stapleson on flute.
