Annmarie Garden Rhythm: Movement in Art

Two of my photos will be on display in the Kay Daugherty Gallery upstairs at Annmarie Garden from February 13-April 19, 2026.  They are part of a juried exhibit called Rhythm:  Movement in Art.  As part of the exhibit, there will be an opening After Hours reception on

Friday February 13th 5-7 pm.  Over 21 years only $5 donation requested

All adults who enjoy art are invited.

The reception includes a cash bar, live music with Lissie Deere, a food truck for two exhibits; the Felicia and Friends: A Togetherness Tribute to MLK exhibit downstairs and the Rhythm:  Movement in Art exhibit upstairs.

My photos Holiday Arch and Spiral Perfection are in the exhibit.  I think this may be something like the 5th or 6th exhibit that included my artwork there.  Using photography, I thought I could show movement by taking a zoomed long exposure or show repetitive patterns.

Azaleas Part 2

We dropped by Annmarie Garden again to photograph the azaleas.  This time I remembered to bring my flash.  I especially like the multicolored ones.  So pretty!

This one was made of 2 photos edited together to make it sharper.

The Azaleas are Starting to Bloom

We traveled to Annmarie Garden again this year to photograph their azalea collection.  There were quite a few different varieties.  Last year we were a little late, and this year we were almost too early.  Enough were blooming for me to get some nice photos.

Annmarie Gardens January 2024

I visited Annmarie Gardens to pick up my "Romantic Couple" photo from the Warm and Cozy exhibit on Friday January 26th, the day it was about 80 degrees briefly.  I had a spare hour unexpectedly, so I took a walk and photographed some of the fun art on the path.  I was there last month for the Christmas display, but it looks a lot different in the daytime.

Annmarie Garden in Lights 2023

We visited Annmarie Garden in Lights in Solomons, MD last week.  The outdoor lights were spectacular on the 1/4 mile walk.  It seemed longer, because I was like a kid in a candy store with my photographs of the gardens.  I brought a tripod which was totally essential and tried to stay out of the way as much as possible.  A few people were even willing to pose for a photo for me.  The exhibits inside were also open and I will share them separately.  I had to visit the inside to see my photo called "Romantic Couple" on the wall in the "Warm and Cozy Exhibit".

Flower Visit to Annmarie Garden

We missed an earlier visit to Annmarie gardens to see the azaleas around the parking lot.  Here are what were on their way out last week.  I mostly had to zoom in close to crop out the dying ones.  We miss the large numbers of azaleas in Pennsylvania.  They won’t grow in my yard without a lot of work and special soil.  The National Arboretum is a good place to see them if you don’t mind the drive in late April or early May.  Does anyone know where azalea gardens can be found in St. Mary’s County?
