River Concert Series The Travel Program June 21 2019

The Travel Program featured music from around the world including South Indian traditional dance by Radha Ganesan.  The dance was very expressive and incredible coordination.  She is a very talented woman.

She was cheerfully introduced by her brother, Dr. Krishna Jayaraman, one of Jim's doctors from Mechanicsville.

Performing with her were 4 young talented women.

Among the horns on Friday, were the Silberschlag sons, Nathaniel and Zachary, both very talented musicians.

Zach performed a complicated solo at the concert, and received the traditional handshake from his father, Jeffrey Silberschlag.

They played 2 particular favorites of mine at the end, "Moldau" by Smetana and "Tales of the Vienna Woods" by J. Strauss Jr.

River Concert Series with Ballet Caliente July 20, 2018

The weather was perfect on Friday night, July 20th for Dancing Under the Stars.  The performance featured a small ensemble from the Chesapeake Orchestra (led by Jeffrey Silberschlag), and the young dancers from Ballet Caliente lead by artistic director, Sheryl-Marie Dunaway.  The performance was held at 7 PM at the Townhouse Green at St. Mary's College of Maryland.  The dancers were graceful and lovely, followed by some orchestral selections.  It was such a nice evening that the crowd stayed for quite a while following the concert.

Before the concert began, we attended an Arts Alliance party, a volunteer group which helps support the River Concert Series and many other cultural and art activities.

Lovely Woodlawn Farm Concert on the lawn, July 25th

The Chesapeake Orchestra Fellows featured a number of small groups on Saturday night led by Jeffrey Silberschlag.  David Froom, usually known as a composer, played the keyboard for the concert, an unusual treat.  The weather was pleasant and the music was too.

He was also a proud father as he played a bit of his son Nathaniel's live performance from the Kennedy Center on his phone during the concert.  Both sons are exceptional musicians.
