Autumn in St. Mary's Part 1-2022

With this crazy warm weather, I was able to take some fun local Fall photos.  I was trying to find places near water for Autumn reflections, country back roads (challenging since most places are paved now) and pretty leaves.

St. Mary's River State Park in Autumn

I visited the park to view the autumn foliage and walked a mile roundtrip on the uneven ground on the hiking trail.  For someone with a foot injury, this was a little challenging, but doable if I kept my head down to avoid tripping on a branch.  I met a lady with a friendly dog along the way.  I photographed her dog, but he got very close, very quickly hoping to say hello.

Merkle Wildlife Drive in Autumn

We went back to take the wildlife drive from Patuxent River Park to Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary even though the weather wasn't as good as the previous week, since it is only open Sundays 10am-3 pm.

Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro

We visited the Patuxent River Park to start the oneway Merkle Wildlife drive only fully open on Sundays 10-3.  We got there a little too late so we wandered around the park to see the wetlands, the boat launch and the Indian hut.

Point Lookout Visit

Dog Beach

We visited Point Lookout State Park on a gorgeous sunny day when the sky matched the water, due to a light haze, creating a fantasy look.  The tankers in the bay appeared to be floating in the sky.   We visited several locations, the fishing pier, the Point, the causeway, and the dog beach.  The dog beach was deserted when I arrived and a Great blue heron had taken up residence.

Breton Bay Visit

We went back to Breton Bay to see the sights along Bull Run Road on a lovely fall day.  We found a few places I hadn't visited before at the end of the road.
