Winning Photos from St. Mary's County Camera Club Competitions

I have been so busy this summer with River Concerts, exhibits and such, that I forgot to post my winning photos from St.Mary's County Camera Club competitions. April-June

In April, I got 2nd prize for the theme adult beverages.  This was hard, since I rarely drink, but managed to find a bottle of rose wine in the fridge.  It was sort of tricky, pouring wine with one hand and clicking the remote shutter with the other.  I didn't have too many to pick from and I had to pour VERY slow.  Photographed on black plexiglass to make a nice reflection.

In May, I won first prize in Advanced for a Gerber Daisy photo.  I actually took the picture as a photo exercise from a book of practice ideas.  It came out nice and sharp.

In June, I had 2 winners, third prize for the theme cooking with the boyscouts at the River Concert and third prize advanced for a laid back swan in Pennsylvania.

Southern Maryland Boat Club Regatta July 30-31, 2016: Disability Be Damned!

Jim is a member of the SMBC and participated in the Regatta this year for the first time at Leonardtown Wharf. This was very special for him because he has extra disabilities to overcome to be in the demos and made quite a few modifications to his boat to drive in the Regatta.  His boat is a 1985 Ski Centurion Warrior Barefoot boat.  His boat's speed was about 55 mph.

He enjoyed showing off his boat and wants to thank his pit crew for all of their help.  It was quite hot, but lots of fun and we also enjoyed the lovely club dinner at Rayner Blair's house Saturday night.

Someone from the club asked if I would offer my Regatta photos for sale, but mostly I am posting them for your enjoyment.

Cardinal in Snow now showing in the Photography Exhibit through August 14th

My most popular photo is included in the Photography Exhibit at the Lexington Park Library.  It is currently also for sale as a card and an 8x10 print.  This poor guy's face had ice on it from a nasty winter snow storm.  It was snowing pretty hard when I took the picture.

Westie Playing Piano Photo for Sale

Here's another favorite in my current Lexington Park Exhibit.  I call it Unleashed Melody or Westie Playing Piano, depending on my mood.  It took a lot of patience to take the photo.  It won a humor contest at the St. Mary's County Camera Club.

The concert on Friday, July 22nd featured Mambo, Salsa, Miles Davis and more.  The evening was quite warm and I was pretty busy. I even visited the stage to share my framed signed photo of Jeffrey Silberschlag with the crowd and sat at the Chesapeake Orchestra's booth during intermission to sell my donated photo of the music director for the orchestra.
