Fun with Peppers!

I wanted to try a still life of peppers, but I don't even like to eat them!  I gave a few away afterwards. They have such bold colors and fun shapes.

This LaRouge pepper looked like a little family at the right angle.

Same pepper, different angle.

I used a light box for this one, shot from above.

I shook the camera a little for this one to make the glow.

Tulip Still Lifes

I bought some tulips from the grocery store, not knowing what color they would be from curbside pickup.  Tulips don’t grow well in our yard, so I thought it would be fun to photograph some.  I played with still lifes using 2 flashes and a flashlight on black velvet.

This was about shapes.

I shined a flashlight on the tulip and tried to get a reflection in the lens ball.

I used a red flashlight pointed at the bowl.

And played with black and white.

Just playing with 3s. 3 groups, 3 books

Sunflowers 2

I love red sunflowers, since they are less common.  To cheer you up in the winter.

Soaking up the sun!

Cardinal in Snow now showing in the Photography Exhibit through August 14th

My most popular photo is included in the Photography Exhibit at the Lexington Park Library.  It is currently also for sale as a card and an 8x10 print.  This poor guy's face had ice on it from a nasty winter snow storm.  It was snowing pretty hard when I took the picture.

My favorite autumn tree on the base

And everyone else's too! Every year I drive by a little picnic area on base with a gorgeous red leaved tree in the fall. It doesn't remain beautiful for long before the leaves fall off. Most years it rains or I can't find the time to take a picture of it. This year I finally managed to photograph it. I laid on the grass, viewed it from beneath and from afar. As I took the time to do that, every few minutes another person came to photograph it too. Amazing!!
Let me know if you recognize it.
